BODY AND APPEARANCE 1. Describe the character's height and build. Is he heavyset, thin, short, rangy? being thirteen, he is sort of lanky and growing into a form. i kind of think of him as the tallest out of the four kids (dave → rose → john → jade), though john probably catches up to them when they hit their later teens or so. by then, he's probably not as mascular as bro considering he still has genetics with mom but he's still a fit motherfucker that's making all the bitches crawl under his bed 2. How old is he? canon point is thirteen. most of the time i thread him in later teens/early adulthood though 3. Describe his posture. Does he carry himself well or does he slouch? being a fighter, you gotta know this shit i think?? especially with a sword since that shit has strict rules, but i'm pretty sure he holds all swords the same way. as long as it cuts things, who even cares....... however, his posture is decent but it also depends on the situation. he's kind of a huge loser who likes to boasts about nothing so he can stand tall and proud, but maybe in a social situation he folds into himself a bit more. guess it just depends on how comfortable he is. 4. How is his health? Is he fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities? he's one of the better fighters in homestuck with some large advantages over the other kids from the get go (minus jade's psychic crazy). he's been strifing and training since he was a baby because bro is just that rad of a guardian, but the sunglasses probably cause a problem considering it kills your sense of color. why he wears those on a planet like lohac is a fucking mystery to me but this is homestuck and everything is beautiful and logical (???) but yes, he is fit and ready and as healthy as a horse. it's kind of my headcanon that he knows some handy first aid tricks and even knows how to apply stitches, because what's a badass without a few cuts once in a while 5. Is he clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid? he moves like a poser. i would say he strides, to make it funny, but we gotta be honest here. imagine the biggest douchebag just walking into your work square before stealing all of your lunch and then leaving. how he walked in and out of there? how dave walks usually. but he probably won't be stealing lunches because even though he's a prick at times, he is definitely not a bully. 6. How attractive is this character physically? How does he perceive himself in the mirror? fandom turned him into a sex god so idk what to say to this but seriously probably as attractive as a kid his age can look i guess, though he's probably got some awkward edges on him 7. Describe his complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred? pale as fuck that it's nearly hilarious, but at least he wears darker clothes so it's not a big deal. i'm also totally behind the idea of him having freckles since everybody light skinned has them here HDFJHLSDJH 8. Describe his hair: color, texture, style. blonde, fine, and spiked; probably due to lots of practice and care. he pays more attention to it than he'd ever admit. 9. What color are his eyes? red, which he covers up with sunglasses. part of it being from his bro's example and another part that it's gotta be annoying if people keep asking about it 10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features? his symbol is a broken record thanks to bro, and kind of foreshadows the game's actual scratch. later turns into that time clock gear thingy though. 11. What are his chief tension centers? between the eyebrows, at the corners of his mouth. he barely moves them though so you kinda have to be john/rose/jade/bro to get a clue 12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he have six of the same suit? he's extremely casual with what he wears, from t-shirts and hoodies to converses and worn out jeans. but he's definitely not afraid to dress classy and took full advantage of that in the game before he went back to a shirt and jeans YEP he just wears whatever he knows he looks good in and is comfortable (ACTION PAJAMAS) as for colors, it's pretty obvious he prefers red 13. Do his clothes fit well? Does he seem comfortable in them? he chillaxes in front of the computer all the fucking time so yes i guess so 14. Does he dress the same on the job as he does in his free time? If not, what are the differences? this is homestuck we're talking about, they switch clothes to whatever the fuck they want ARE WE DONE WITH THE CLOTHING QUESTIONS 15. High-pitched, deep, hoarse? sobs it's sad that i haven't heard my headcanon voice for him anywhere yet. mid pitch-level, but it sounds more mature with how he generally speaks? 2. How does he normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does he talk easily, or does he hesitate? he talks monotone in a very medium pace. i kind of think of jade as talking high-pitched and fast, john nasally and fast but not at jade's speed, rose as an older voice and eloquent, and also the most confident speaker. for dave it's pretty close to rose, except he word vomits but you can hear everything he says. 3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics? canon slight texan drawl 4. What language/s does he speak, and with how much fluency? just english! given that he's from houston though, he's probably picked up on a little ironic spanglish 5. Does he switch languages or dialects in certain situations? officially stated he has a slight texan draw. old habits die hard, and idk if it switches up since. it's an accent 6. Is he a good impromptu speaker, or does he have to think about his words? he's definitely not a rose, but if you give him even a second to plot out a speech, he'd be as convincing as jeff on community. but probably less genuine. 7. Is he eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change? he is extremely eloquent extremely obnoxiously fucking eloquent it's not a good thing MENTAL AND EMOTIONAL 1. How intelligent is this character? Is he book-smart or street-smart? dave's proven to have a knack for computers, but i wouldn't call him a second sollux on the matter. he's just one of those casual tech dudes you meet at school and he's not even really interested in that. he's definitely smart though, i'd think if you were a time player, you'd kinda have to be. and when you have a bro like his then yeah you know a couple things about the city, so. 2. Idealistic or practical? he can obviously think on a logical standpoint but he has also moved on just instinctive feelings. he's not the planning the type, he just goes with the flow, which wouldn't exactly make him a great leader or anything 4. What kind of education has the character had? unknown, i'd like to think he went to a public school personally 5. What are his areas of expertise? What, if anything, is he interested in learning more about? striders have a variety of INTERESTS. dave likes music and hipster photography and tiny bands nobody cares about. he's curious about anything that happens in his situations, and if he has questions that he wants answers to, then he's not afraid to ask 6. Is he an introvert or an extrovert? it depends because when he's around friends, he won't shut the fuck up. but if it's around people like tavros, then he STILL won't shut the fuck up, but it all leads into shutting them down 7. Describe the character's temperament. Is he even-tempered or does he have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven? he's freaked out, he's kept calm, he's laughed, he's beaten himself up about situations, he goes with the flow, and he has gotten shit done. like i said: it just depends. he usually reacts accordingly, but he can also be pretty fucking ridiculous 8. Is he suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic? he's been pretty casual with new people. when talking to aradia, he was civil enough until he realized she was a troll then just immediately shut her down. he becomes more approachable later on when he finds out that they're not bullshit, but he hasn't been hostile for no reason through pesterchum otherwise 9. Describe this character's relationship with his parents. he worships bro like he's a greek god, even though he tends to show mixed feelings. he was resentful of bro when he helped dave enter the medium since dave was trying to do it by himself. his reaction to bro's death is pretty weird still, but he resolves that he needs to get revenge for him either way 2. What is/was their relationship like? rose is his sister slime thing. they probably have the most complicated relationship out of all three kids since dave opens up to her the most. he's proven to be protective of all his friends but he nearly flipped his shit about rose on derse 3. Does he share it with others? he lives in an apartment with his bro, on the highest floor. it's a typical apartment but with a lot of shit all over the place and is usually cluttered. he doesn't leave much since most of his hobbies are indoor activities, save protography. 4. Does he enjoy it, or would he rather be doing something else? he fights imps and torrents up some big bucks. on earth, he was big on music and comics but that's not saying everything about him at all. his alpha version is a huge superstar though 6.
